Selfless are the final team to make the MLG Americas Minor playoffs after defeating WinOut 2-1 in the Group B decider (16-6 on Dust2, 6-16 on Cache, and 16-14 on Cobblestone).
The Group B decider match at the MLG Americas Minor brought together Canadian-American Selfless and Brazilian WinOut, with both teams having defeated Winterfox to make the decider match although WinOut had also encountered a thumping defeat to OpTic in their opening match in Columbus.
Dust2 was WinOut's map pick, and although the Brazilian team won the first gunround on their CT-side after losing the pistol, it quickly became apparent that things were not going according to plan as Selfless' Mitch "mitch" Semago and Skyler "Relyks" Weaver began to use their AK's to devastating effect and secured the North American team round after round.
With the half ultimately finishing 12-3 in the favour of Selfless, WinOut gave themselves some breathing room with a second pistolround win and two converted anti-ecos, however a flawless B-site hold by mitch saw the American player get two AK kills and two Incendiary kills and thus kickstart Selfless' comeback. Off of this turnaround, Selfless took the first map 16-6.
Relyks and Selfless are beginning to appear more comfortable offline
With the Brazilian team apparently arguing with each other in between the two maps, WinOut desperately needed to get a positive start to Cache and did just that with pistolround win on their CT-side.
Although Selfless, yet again powered by Relyks on Cache, had a convincing share of T-side entries that made the half finish only 9-6 in WinOut's favour, the Brazilian team turned up the heat on their own T-side and grabbed seven rounds in a row to win Selfless' map pick 16-6.
Both sides therefore moved to Cobblestone and it was yet again another impeccable T-side from Renato "nak" Nakano and his troops that defined the first half of the match, with Gustavo "yel" Knittel having a few highlight-worthy plays with the AWP and with the Brazilians finishing up 9-6 (a late half Selfless comeback gave the North American team some much needed rounds).
destiny and WinOut tried to keep the #BrazilinNA dream alive
The second half at first seemed to be a done deal as WinOut climbed to a 13-7 lead, but a second Selfless Cobblestone comeback got underway shortly afterwards as Michael "Uber" Stapells & co. gained back round-after-round until the score stood at 14-14 and WinOut called for a tactical pause.
Since WinOut had to eco the 29th round, it all came down to the 30th round of the game in the decider match where Selfless did a full B-take and, despite an optimal position in the smoke by Lucas "destiny" Bullo, the North American team managed to pull off the plant and won the map 16-14.
